Great for Kids

Discovery Lab 

Discovery Lab has been igniting the curiosity of children since 2007, initially as a museum without walls. In May 2013, Discovery Lab opened after renovating the Owen Park Recreation Center. In late 2018, the museum will break ground on a 50,000-square-foot world-class facility in A Gathering Place park that will be transformative for Tulsa’s children and families, and will respond to a compelling educational need in the community.

A Gathering Place

Imagine a park that offers amazing attractions and world-class programming for all ages with no entry fee. This dream was built into reality at A Gathering Place: Tulsa's Riverfront Park. Opening to the public September 8, 2018, Gathering Place will serve as a cornerstone for our vibrant community while improving social, economic and environmental sustainability in Tulsa.

Gilcrease Museum

The Thomas Gilcrease Institute of American History and Art, commonly known as Gilcrease Museum, located in Tulsa, is one of the country’s best facilities for the preservation and study of American art and history. The museum houses the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West, including an unparalleled collection of Native American art and material.

Living Arts

Living Arts presents and develops critically- engaged contemporary art in Tulsa, and also several opportunities for children.  Living Arts is located at 307 East M.B. Brady Street. Living Arts includes exhibition spaces, education spaces, sites for meeting and event programming. 

Philbrook Museum of Art

Serving over 160,000 visitors annually, Philbrook Museum of Art has become a poignant testimony to Tulsa’s past while building a shining example of this city’s bright future. Through the generosity of Trustees, Donors, and the George Kaiser Family Foundation, Philbrook opened a new satellite facility in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District on June 14, 2013 featuring the Museum’s growing collection of Modern and contemporary art as well as highlights from the comprehensive Native American collection, which includes the Eugene B. Adkins Collection and Study Center.

Oklahoma Aquarium

The Oklahoma Aquarium features exhibits for kids and offers many activities, often in conjunction with classroom activities at Union Public Schools.

Theatre Tulsa

As "Tulsa’s Finest Local Theatre," Theatre Tulsa knows that theatre has the power to change people’s lives. That means Theatre Tulsa’s education program is one of the most important services we offer. Theatre Tulsa Academy educates and develops students of all ages and ambitions, from the beginner to the Broadway bound. We offer courses, workshops, and seasonal camps that turn students to pros in dance, acting, and vocal technique. 

Tulsa City/County Library

Read a book, magazine or surf the Internet. Your local library has tons of activities that are fun and educational. Tulsa City/County Library has homework help, fun classes and more.

Tulsa City Zoo

The Tulsa Zoo offers a variety of fun and educational experiences for students and families. 

YMCA of Greater Tulsa 

The YMCA of Greater Tulsa, which partners with Union Public Schools, supports our educators, families and communities. The YMCA offers full- day programming at Westside, Daily, and Owasso, and enhanced branch operations, along with nutritional services for kids and families, and managed the Y at Union located at the UMAC.

 

Assistance - Food, Clothing & More

Boys and Girls Club

In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. See Boys and Girls Club of Metro Tulsa as well as Salvation Army

The Clothing Closet proudly serves Union Schools and families throughout the year. We are excited and eager to serve our community!

Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma 

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma is committed to supporting the nutritional needs of students. With schools heading back into session, we wanted to thank everyone who helped support our students. The community in eastern Oklahoma made a concerted effort, with a great many agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals working together for our children.

John 3:16 Mission

John 3:16 Mission is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit church (unaffiliated with any denomination) that was founded in 1952 to share the Gospel with Tulsa’s hungry, homeless, and at-risk people while meeting their immediate physical needs for food, shelter, clothing, and safety.

Iron Gate

Iron Gate - at Trinity Episcopal Church, 501 S. Cincinnati Ave. - serves unlimited meals from 8:30-10:30 a.m. 365 days a year. No requirements and no fees. Iron Gate also has a food pantry open Monday-Friday, 12-1 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. 

Restore Hope Ministries

Restore Hope Ministries was incorporated in 1978 by Tulsa area United Methodist congregations to meet the growing need for emergency assistance for families in crisis. Restore Hope assistant with hunger reduction, homeless prevention and emotional nurture.
